A little over a year ago, our family of four embarked on an adventure to find as many bird species in North America as possible for our limited time and means. Of these birds, we chose the Pink-Footed Goose as our mascot and top rare bird. This was first inspired by a love of birding, especially for some of us. Secondly, the movie, Big Year, opened up the window of possibilities for adventure. We had no idea the journeys we would take.

A little more than a year later, we have learned incredible lessons about birds, ecosystems, and cultures, as well as many skills. We also learned a lot about ourselves.

Now we’re continuing into this wonderous world — a new mascot for the year (the Green Kingfisher) and unknown adventures ahead of us.
